The Feasibility and the Background of the Card Many disassembled LGA771 CPU have rushed into market, because such socket supported servers retired. Among the LGA775 socket supported PC, just the desk-top took 40% market share at least for the past 5 years, yet these computers’ performances are out of date and need upgrade. However, those PCs, theoretically, are only compatible with LGA775 CPU, but the high-end LGA775 CPU are expensive, such as Q9650, $239 on eBay. Some LGA775 CPU is low-end, many PCs are even still single core (Celeron E420) or dual core (Pentium E2180), those performances are low and can’t meet users’ requirements any more. Some of their performance is even worse than LGA771 CPU but more expensive. It would be more expensive to gain a better performance if by upgrading system, because it should be replaced the motherboard at least, let alone replace the other parts. There are several cheap but powerful 771pin CPUs, such as Xeon E5450, its core, smart cache and clock speed are as the same as those of Q9650, while its price is only $25 on Ebay, yet those CPU with 771pin are not compatible with LGA775 motherboard. Actually LGA771 CPU and LGA775 CPU have the specifications except package, so can use LGA 771 CPU on LGA775 socket supported PCs@ If can, it would be a big cost save here. The Size of LGA771 CPU is as the same as that of LGA775, just their foolproof openings’ positions are different (The left one is LGA775, the right one is LGA771.) But now we have Intel 771-to-775 Socket Exchanging Card, which, makes LGA771 CPUs technically be used on LGA775socket supported PCs. We could replace your LGA775 CPU by more powerful high-end LGA771 CPU at little cost in order to enhance computer performance. Just about $39 can let you enjoy a wonderful performance which is worth of $239 or even more. Now pls prepare a small knife/blade, tweezer and nail clipper (with bevel edge) to join in this exciting DIY journey. The most suitable motherboard is four phases power supply, DDR3 RAM; such board support 45nm CUP BIOS after upgrade can use LGA771 CPU Instructions How to Use LGA771 CPU on LGA775 Motherboard 1. Empty the BIOS information of the motherboard, Do cut off the power and take out the motherboard and battery, this is very important, then, take out LGA775 CPU 2. Cut off (LGA775) foolproof opening with knife or nail clipper (nail clipper is better here, as it can avoid any accidental damages to motherboard mostly); or use an electric iron to get rid of the foolproof openings, must be careful here enough and avoid to bend any pins on the CPU 3. Install the card on the back of CPU, letting the bottom side of the card kiss the CPU (the side has no silk screen and stick the tape). The installation position must be right, or the CPU might be burnt, about the position, pls refer to the below picture. 4. Install LGA771 CPU, the direction must be right or CPU might be burnt. 5. Check the other parts whether they are connected well or not, install motherboard and battery, open computer meanwhile press “DEL” key to get into “BIOS”, load optimized default (F10) |
